    Thanks Robsy, I thought unplugging the MAF sensor would make it throw load of codes? I've not checked the Map Sensor so will have a look for it. Idling is fine, so would guess idle control valve is ok. I'll see if I can find some MAF sensor cleaner somewhere.

    Ahh brilliant, now you say that it’s clearly wax coating covered in dirt / dust as it is dry and sticky rather than wet. Was thinking it was more like a fine spray from elsewhere. Will have to get underneath to spot the possible leak…
